What you should know about choosing wood

There are plenty of choices when it comes to wood. Here are a few tips that should help you decide.

We recommend that you don't use any pressure-treated woods. The chemicals can be toxic to your birds and their chicks. This goes for painted woods that may contain with a lead based paint or treated with creosote.

Here is our safe list of woods that can be used:

  • Redwood
  • Pine
  • Cedar
  • Spruce

You shouldn't have any problems using these woods we recommend that they be at least 3/4 inches thick so they can stand up to the elements!
